In this notice, Q’d, we, us and our refer to The Gaming Nexus Studios Ltd, trading as Q’d.
We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice unless we clearly explain otherwise.
2. What this notice covers

- complete verification;
- review profiles or express interest;
- book, join or participate in a Date Night;
- use a friend group or debrief room;
- form a match or exchange text messages;
- make a payment;
- report a concern or appeal a decision;
- contact support;

Q’d is intended only for adults who meet the age and location requirements shown during registration. The initial London service is intended for people aged 21 through 30.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Account information
We may collect:
- your name;
- date of birth;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- login and authentication information;
- account identifiers;
- language and communication preferences; and
- records of your agreement to our terms, notices and consent requests.
3.2 Profile and preference information
We may collect information that you choose or are required to add to your profile, including:
- display name;
- age;
- general location;
- gender;
- sexual orientation;
- the genders and age ranges you are interested in meeting;
- relationship intention;
- interests, values and lifestyle information;
- profile answers;
- photographs;
- profile videos;
- voice or video prompt responses;
- availability;
- preferences and dealbreakers; and
- moderation status.
Some profile and preference information may reveal sexual orientation, sex life, religious or philosophical beliefs, health information, racial or ethnic origin, or other sensitive information. Some of these categories receive additional legal protection.
Only add information that you are comfortable using for a dating service and sharing with the people permitted to view your profile.
3.3 Verification and age information
To protect the Q’d community, we may process:
- a live camera capture;
- liveness results;
- face comparison results;
- a facial age estimate or age range;
- verification confidence scores;
- verification attempt and provider references;
- verification status;
- reasons for failure, expiry, revocation or required reverification; and
- limited audit information about when and how verification occurred.
Q’d face verification is designed to check that a live person resembles the person shown in approved profile media. It does not confirm your legal name or government identity.
Q’d does not use routine passport or driving licence verification for this process.
Face information used for recognition may be biometric information and may receive additional legal protection. We intend to process raw verification media only for the time needed to obtain the required results. We do not intend to retain raw liveness video, temporary reference images, face templates or exact inferred ages in Q’d storage after that processing is complete.
Amazon Rekognition processes the short live face check and returns the information needed to complete the comparison. Q’d does not keep your raw liveness video, temporary verification images, face template or exact inferred age after the result is obtained; Amazon may retain limited service records under our agreed provider terms.
3.4 Discovery and recommendation information
We collect information about:
- profiles shown to you;
- whether you selected interested, not interested or decide later;
- profiles shown to other people;
- availability and session choices;
- compatibility criteria;
- people you have already met;
- blocks and safety restrictions;
- attendance history;
- recommendation and pairing reasons; and
- limited measures used to test the quality and fairness of recommendations.
We do not reveal your private interest choice to another person unless both of you later make the required mutual decision.
3.5 Date Night information
We may collect:
- Date Night bookings and queue status;
- check in and attendance;
- estimated session duration;
- pairing assignments;
- room and connection references;
- conversation start and end times;
- private extension or switch choices;
- leave and disconnect events;
- people you actually met;
- post date decisions;
- technical quality information; and
- moderation and safety events.
We do not show one participant whether the other participant selected Extend or Switch.
Q’d does not record video calls by default. Persistent live transcription is also disabled unless and until the lawful basis, notice, retention, security and access rules have been approved. If we introduce recording or transcription, we will provide clear notice before it starts and update this notice where required.
3.6 Friend group information
If you use Join With Friends, we may collect:
- group membership;
- invitations and participation status;
- debrief room attendance;
- which encountered profile a participant deliberately chose to share;
- sharing start and end times; and
- advisory votes where that optional feature is enabled.
Profiles are not automatically shown to the whole group. A participant must deliberately choose a profile to share. Friend votes are advisory and do not submit or change the dater's private match decision.
3.7 Matches and messages
Only mutual matches may communicate directly.
We may process:
- text messages;
- message timestamps and delivery information; and
- blocks, unmatches and reports.
Q’d stores text messages so that they remain available inside the relevant matched conversation. This storage is separate from a live Date Night video call, which Q’d does not record by default.
3.8 Reports, moderation and appeals
We may collect:
- the report category and description;
- the account, profile, date, message or media involved;
- relevant content and event records;
- moderator notes;
- action and appeal records;
- communications with the people involved;
- evidence submitted voluntarily;
- safety and security assessments; and
- records required to protect users, respond to legal requests or defend legal claims.
We do not tell a reported person who made a report unless disclosure is required by law or is necessary and proportionate for a formal process.
3.9 Support information
If you contact support, we may collect:
- your contact details;
- account verification information;
- ticket category;
- subject and description;
- attachments;
- related event, booking or transaction information;
- correspondence;
- ticket status and resolution; and
- service quality feedback.
Support is provided through tickets and email. It is not a live chat service.
3.10 Payment information
We may collect:
- subscription or purchase type;
- transaction and receipt identifiers;
- price, currency and tax information;
- entitlement status;
- renewal and cancellation status;
- refund information; and
- limited fraud and payment risk information.
Apple, Google or another payment provider may process your full payment details. Q’d should not receive or store complete card details where the payment provider can process them directly.
3.11 Device, security and usage information
We may collect:
- device and browser type;
- operating system and application version;
- internet protocol address;
- approximate location derived from technical information;
- language and time zone;
- session, security and authentication logs;
- crash and error information;
- feature usage;
- consent preferences; and
- information from cookies and similar device storage technologies.
See the Q’d Cookies and Device Storage Notice for more information.
4. How we receive information
We receive information:
- directly from you;
- from your use of Q’d;
- from other users when they interact with, block or report you;
- from people who nominate or refer you where that feature is available;
- from authentication, video, verification, payment, hosting, email, storage, analytics and security providers;
- from Apple, Google or another application marketplace;
- from moderators and support staff; and
- from public authorities where permitted by law.
5. Why we use information
5.1 Providing the service
We use information to:
- create and secure accounts;
- build and display profiles;
- verify participants;
- create daily profile selections;
- manage availability, bookings, capacity and queues;
- calculate eligible Date Night pairings;
- operate private video dates and debrief rooms;
- create mutual matches;
- deliver text messages;
- provide subscription benefits; and
- provide support.
Our usual legal basis is that the processing is necessary to provide the service you requested and perform our contract with you.
5.2 Sensitive profile information and biometric verification
Where we process information that receives additional legal protection, including sexual orientation or biometric information used for recognition, we will identify an appropriate ordinary lawful basis and an additional condition for that sensitive processing.
Our intended condition for the core dating preferences and face verification described in this notice is your explicit consent, subject to final professional review. We will request that consent separately and clearly. You may withdraw consent, but Q’d may be unable to provide features that depend on the relevant information.
5.3 Safety, integrity and moderation
We use information to:
- prevent fake accounts and impersonation;
- prevent fraud, harassment, stalking and other abuse;
- identify prohibited content;
- investigate reports;
- enforce our terms and guidelines;
- protect participants and staff;
- operate moderation and appeals;
- secure Q’d systems; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Our legal basis may be our legitimate interests in operating a safe and trustworthy service, performance of our contract, compliance with a legal obligation, protection of vital interests, or another basis that applies to the particular situation.
We document and assess our legitimate interests where we rely on them.
5.4 Legal and regulatory duties
We may use or disclose information where necessary to:
- comply with laws, court orders and lawful requests;
- meet online safety duties;
- report content where the law requires reporting;
- respond to regulators;
- keep financial and tax records; or
- protect the rights and safety of people.
Our legal basis is compliance with a legal obligation or another basis permitted by law.
5.5 Improving Q’d
We may use limited information to:
- diagnose errors;
- measure reliability;
- understand whether features work;
- improve recommendations and session quality;
- assess fairness;
- prevent misuse; and
- plan capacity.
Our legal basis is usually our legitimate interests in improving and securing Q’d. We will not use raw private message content or raw biometric media to train a recommendation model unless we first establish a lawful, fair and transparent basis and provide any required choice.
5.6 Communications
We use your contact details for essential service messages such as verification, security, booking, Date Night, match, support, payment and policy notices. These are part of providing and protecting the service.
We send marketing only where permitted by law. You can opt out of marketing at any time. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages.
6. Recommendations, pairing and automated processing
Q’d uses rules and automated processing to decide which eligible profiles and Date Night partners can be presented to you.
The process considers matters such as:
- age and selected age range;
- gender and orientation compatibility;
- location and service availability;
- relationship intention;
- preferences and dealbreakers;
- blocks, declines and safety restrictions;
- attendance and active profile circulation;
- availability for the same Date Night;
- prior interest;
- shared interests and compatible answers;
- whether two people have already met; and
- the need to avoid repeat encounters in the same Date Night.
Payment does not make a profile more compatible. At launch, a subscription may affect booking or queue priority, but it does not override safety, compatibility or an existing confirmed booking.
Recommendations and pairings do not decide whether you form a relationship. You decide whether to express interest, extend a conversation, match, continue messaging or meet offline.
Verification, safety and moderation systems may restrict access. Where an automated result materially affects your access, Q’d should provide an appropriate retry, support or human review route.
Read How Q’d Recommendations Work for a fuller explanation.
7. Who receives information
We may disclose information to:
- other users according to the product controls described in this notice;
- verified participating friends when you deliberately share an encountered profile in a debrief room;
- service providers that support hosting, video, verification, storage, authentication, payments, email, notifications, analytics, security and moderation;
- professional advisers, auditors and insurers;
- regulators, courts, law enforcement and other public authorities where lawful;
- a buyer, investor or successor where a business transaction requires appropriate disclosure; and
- another person where you direct us or give valid consent.
We require service providers to protect information and process it only under agreed instructions where they act on our behalf.
We do not sell personal information.
The current internal provider register records Daily for live video, Amazon Web Services for planned production face verification and age estimation, and Google for the temporary testing support mailbox. Other providers are recorded only when they are actually selected or configured.
8. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred to a country that does not have an applicable adequacy decision, we will use an approved safeguard where required, such as an appropriate transfer agreement, and assess whether additional protection is necessary.
You may contact ts5bme@tgnstudios.uk to request more information about relevant transfer safeguards.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including safety, legal, accounting and dispute requirements.
The current approved starting schedule is:
- account information is kept while the account is active and is removed from active systems within 30 days after an approved deletion request, subject to the exceptions below;
- profile content is removed from public display when an account is deleted and is erased from active systems within 30 days;
- raw liveness recordings, temporary verification images, face templates and exact inferred ages are processed only for verification and are deleted from Q’d storage immediately after the result is obtained;
- the verification result, date and limited audit record are kept while the account is active and for up to 30 days after deletion, unless connected to a safety case, dispute or legal duty;
- ordinary discovery choices are kept for up to 12 months where needed to avoid repetition and improve recommendations, while active blocks and safety restrictions may remain for as long as the account or restriction remains active;
- detailed Date Night booking and attendance records are kept for 24 months after the event, while the minimum attendance count needed to apply the published cancellation and no show rules may be kept for longer;
- pairing, extension and switch records are kept for 12 months after the Date Night unless connected to a report, dispute or legal duty;
- match decisions are kept while needed to operate the account and match, then erased from active systems within 30 days after account deletion;
- text messages remain available while the matched conversation is available;
- when a match ends or an account is deleted, its ordinary messages are hidden from the users and erased from active systems within 30 days, unless relevant content is preserved for a report, safety investigation, dispute or legal duty;
- ordinary support tickets and attachments are kept for two years after closure;
- safety reports, moderation evidence, enforcement decisions and appeals are kept for six years after the case closes, or longer where a legal hold or active dispute requires it;
- security and technical logs are ordinarily kept for 90 days, with relevant records preserved for longer when required to investigate an incident;
- payment and accounting records are kept for six years from the end of the company financial year to which they relate, or longer where law requires;
- marketing consent and withdrawal records are kept for three years after the last relevant communication or change, while a minimal suppression record may be kept for as long as necessary to honour an objection;
- deleted information may remain in protected backups until the relevant backup is overwritten, ordinarily within 35 days; and
- information subject to an active legal hold, complaint, safety investigation or legal obligation is kept until that reason ends and is then deleted or anonymised under the applicable schedule.
Q’d reviews this schedule at least once each year and whenever the service, providers or law materially changes.
10. Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, including:
- encryption in transit;
- appropriate protection for stored information;
- access controls;
- role based permissions;
- secure secrets management;
- logging and monitoring;
- provider security review;
- secure development and testing;
- backup and recovery controls; and
- staff confidentiality and training.
No system can guarantee absolute security. You should use a strong unique password where a password is used, protect your devices and never share login or verification codes.
11. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
- receive information about our processing;
- access your personal information;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion;
- restrict processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- object to direct marketing;
- receive certain information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- ask for human review of an applicable automated decision; and
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Your rights are not absolute and the applicable right may depend on the purpose and lawful basis.
The right to object to direct marketing is absolute. We will stop using your information for direct marketing when you object.
To exercise a right, contact ts5bme@tgnstudios.uk. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not ask for more information than is reasonably necessary for that purpose.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office through its official website. We ask that you contact us first so we have an opportunity to resolve the issue, but you do not have to do so.
12. Deleting your account
You may request account deletion through the application or by contacting support.
Deleting the application from your device does not delete your account.
Deleting your Q’d account may not cancel a subscription managed by Apple, Google or another payment provider. You must also cancel renewal through the provider that took the payment.
We may retain limited information after deletion where necessary to:
- comply with law;
- complete a transaction;
- investigate or prevent abuse;
- enforce a ban;
- protect another person;
- resolve a complaint; or
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We will not use retained information for unrelated purposes.
13. Other people's privacy
Do not upload, record, share or distribute another person's private information or content without a lawful reason and any required permission.
You must not record a Date Night or debrief room, take or distribute unauthorised captures, publish private messages, or use information obtained through Q’d to harass, identify or track another person.
The deliberate profile sharing feature inside a private participating friend group does not give any friend permission to copy, contact or redistribute that profile.
14. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the service, providers or law changes.
We will display the latest version and effective date. Where a change materially affects your rights or our use of information, we will provide reasonable notice through Q’d, email or another appropriate method.
